Melitta is a German coffee brand and was founded in 1908 by Melitta Bentz. This woman from Dresden was annoyed  by the bitter taste of coffee and the fact that coffee was not completely clear, leading to sediment in her cups. She  therefore experimented to make a cleaner cup of coffee. She used a copper pot with holes that was covered with  absorbent paper. This idea led to the first coffee filter. 

Bentz patented her invention and started the international coffee brand Melitta around filtered coffee. The coffee  brand grew quickly and introduced several other products to make perfect coffee. Melitta's innovation revolutionised  coffee and even today, Melitta is still a leading coffee brand. 

Melitta makes everything you need to make a good cup of coffee: ground coffee, coffee beans, coffee pads, instant  coffee, filter bags, hand filters, coffee grinders, coffee machines, kettles and milk frothers. Not for nothing has Melitta  become the standard around filter coffee. 

In terms of flavours, innovation did not stop there either. Melitta, for instance, was the first brand to launch finely  ground, vacuum-packed filter coffee.
